Students honored for writing, talent show, and Special Olympics achievements

Seniors Khadia Baptiste and Khalia Baptiste were chosen Creative Writers of the Month for March in Kristin Zerbe’s Creative Writing class.

The winner of Ram Jam, Dickinson’s annual talent showcase was senior Mariana Martinez. The exchange student from Venezuela’s flamenco dance earned top honors from the faculty judges. In second place was sophomore Frederik Sturm who performed an original musical composition titled I Don’t Belong Into Star Wars. Finally, sophomore Alysia Rider-Watson earned third place for her vocal rendition of Monica’s For You I Will.

On Thursday, March 14, Meadowood students participated in the Special Olympics Basketball Skills Competition. Gold medals were awarded to Reyna Cruz, Katrina Doerr, Justin Hall, Saad Masood, Austen Saylor, and Cassidy Yanso. In addition, Bricel Reyes earned a silver medal and Jakai Walker earned a bronze medal.

Spring Break begins tomorrow. Students will return to school on Monday, April 8. Third marking period report cards will be the day after students return.
